π South Sudan Flood Relief Project — 2021
Hope through the storm — bringing life back to children and families displaced by flooding
In late 2021, relentless rainfall caused one of the worst floods in South Sudan’s history. Entire villages disappeared beneath muddy waters. Families clung to rooftops, waiting for rescue. Children went days without food, and mothers carried their babies across miles of water searching for safety.
World Shelter Alliance arrived at the scene with emergency aid teams and local partners.
Within the first week, we distributed clean water, emergency food packs, and temporary shelter kits to
over 7,000 displaced families. We focused especially on helping children who had lost their homes,
schools, and sense of safety.
π§ Stories from the Flood
One child, Mariem, just 8 years old, told our team she hadn’t eaten for two days before we reached her village. When she finally received her food pack, she said quietly, “Now I can feed my brother.” It was moments like this that reminded us why compassion must never stop — even when the world is drowning.
π° Global Support & Donations
The global community came together to raise $4.8 million for flood relief efforts. Many donors chose to remain unnamed, yet their generosity reached every corner of the affected regions. Volunteers from Kenya, Uganda, and Ethiopia joined hands to help rebuild what was lost.
Rebuilding continues — schools, homes, and water points are being restored with the help of our dedicated partners. Every contribution, big or small, has helped turn despair into hope.π© Join the Mission
